A management agent that connects the MIM Synchronization Service to Okta.

The Lithnet Okta Management Agent connects the MIM Synchronization Service to Okta. It imports and manages Okta users and groups, group membership, user lifecycle state, and passwords.

The [getting started](/okta-ma/installation/getting-started.md) guide walks you through the setup from start to finish. If you already know what you're after, go straight to the page you need.

## Authentication

There are three ways to authenticate to Okta:

* An Okta API token
* OAuth 2.0 with a private JWK held in a file
* OAuth 2.0 with an X.509 certificate, which allows the private key to be non-exportable or held in a TPM or HSM

See [Choosing an authentication method](/okta-ma/authentication/choosing-an-authentication-method.md) for a comparison of the three.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.lithnet.io/okta-ma/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
